Position Openings

 

     The Wabeno School District Title VI (Indian Education Act) grant program announces two part-time positions for the district.  Each position will be for $12.37 per hour. The elementary position will be 16 to 18 hours per week over 4 days. The high school position will be and 21 to 25 hours per week over 3 or 4 days. Final hours for both will be dependent on student need and scheduling. The Jr. High/High school staff member will work with targeted Native American students primarily in grades 7-12 (depending on scheduling and student needs some time with upper elementary students may also be possible).  The Elementary Instructional Aide will work primarily with Native American students in grades 2 through 6. The primary focus of these positions will be to work with students to increase their math achievement levels.  This may include administering a computer-based math assessment and having students use a computer-based math program as well as assisting students in the classroom with homework completion.  Training will be provided for use of the computer-based program.

Applicants will need to be able to work with students either individually, in small groups, or in the classroom, and to have the ability to help them with any area of math (for the high school position this would also include algebra and geometry).  Applicants should be comfortable using computers and willing to participate in additional training on a specific math program.  The individual hired will need to work cooperatively with district staff to schedule student services.  In addition to strong math skills this position requires the ability to work well with students at these age/grade levels, ability to communicate with parents/guardians, school and tribal staff regarding student needs, maintaining student records and writing student progress reports. Experience working with students will be helpful.  Background checks of potential applicants are required.

Elementary Teacher Position

Elementary Teacher Position for the 2018-2019 school year.  This is a full time, regular position.  Wisconsin DPI certification in elementary education is required, K-6 preferred. 

We are seeking a qualified teacher who possesses skills and understanding of balanced literacy and the writing process.  Applicants must have a solid understanding of reform based mathematics and inquiry based science.  This position will require confident technology skills and background in differentiation strategies.  Successful applicants will be a contributing team member with strong communication skills and have the ability to develop positive collegial and parent relationships.

Wisconsin DPI certification in elementary education is required, K-6 preferred.
